I Hate Studying, But Here’s How I Still Ace My Nursing Exams
If you’re like me and don’t exactly enjoy studying, nursing school can feel overwhelming. With quizzes, exams, case presentations, and oral revalida, there’s so much to memorize, drugs, diagnoses, procedures, it’s easy to feel lost.
That’s why I turned to Quizlet. This app changed the game for me. I’m not the type of person who studies a lot—in fact, I hate studying. But Quizlet made it feel less like torture and more like a game. Sometimes I’d be too tired to even open my notes, but answering flashcards or doing the matching game on Quizlet felt more like I was just casually scrolling through my phone.
I started by making my own flashcard sets based on our lessons, especially for drug studies and pathophysiology. But there were also times when I was too lazy or pressed for time, so I’d just search for the topic and use decks already created by other nursing students. Most of them were actually really helpful.
I iked Quizlet so much that I ended up availing their premium version. Having access to offline mode and different study types made it easier for me to review anywhere during commute, in between duties, or even while waiting in line. I didn’t have to carry heavy notes all the time anymore.
There were moments when I’d be panicking the night before a quiz or oral exam, and instead of rereading handouts over and over, I’d just go through Quizlet flashcards. It somehow helped me retain more, especially with repeated exposure. My brain likes fast recall and repetition and Quizlet gave me that without feeling like I was studying too hard.
